Local Lead Generation Book Reviewed by Small Business Trends Website

Shortly after I published The Small Business Owner’s Guide to Local Lead Generation last summer, I submitted it to the Small Business Trends website to have them write a review of it.  Since the website is one of the most respected and popular independent small business publications on the entire internet, I thought that getting a positive review from them would be a nice feather in our cap and a great way to get the word out about the book.

Well, to make a long story short…I didn’t hear anything back from them after submitting the book, and I figured that it had been turned down.  After all, they only review two books a week, and they get hundreds if not thousands of submissions monthly, so I figured that our chances of getting a review were not good.

Then, a few months after I submitted the book for review, I got an email from someone with the website asking me to send them a copy of the book.  I thought “Ok, maybe we have a chance here”, so I sent along a copy.  Once again, several weeks passed, and I didn’t hear anything.  I figured that they had taken a look at the book and decided it wasn’t even worth writing a review about it.

Then, a few days ago, out of the blue a review of the book suddenly appeared on the site!  And not only that, but the reviewer gave it four out of five stars!  Needless to say, this is very exciting.  To have a completely independent professional book reviewer give us a “thumbs up” is very different from asking for an endorsement from someone we’re already connected to.  The reviewer has no motivation whatsoever to promote or recommend the book, and the fact that he did so is great validation that we put out a quality piece of work.

It’s also nice to know that more people will be exposed to the book, which of course will help the sales a little bit.  More importantly, it will help a few more business owners get informed about some of the realities of marketing and lead generation, and could just make the difference between their success and failure.  Last time I checked the review had been shared on social media 493 times.  Would you help get that number up to 500?  Just click here and use the sharing buttons on the left side of the page to share the review using your favorite social media platform.
